Electric Race Car Development
In 2023, Hyundai Motorsport enlisted our performance engineering services during the development of its new race car designed for the ETCR racing series . Throughout the project, we were involved in the following key areas:
Performance Engineering Tasks
- Defining development directions based on test results
- Supporting the race engineer during on-track testing
- Developing data analysis templates in WinTAX
- Performing detailed data analysis: vehicle maintenance and performance data, driver performance evaluation
- Reporting: compiling test reports, event summaries, validation of developments, and proposing new ideas
Vehicle dynamics simulations and subsystem design
- Design and integration of specific subsystems, such as a front suspension system with special adjustable spring characteristics
- Conducting vehicle dynamics simulations and evaluating the results: Point mass lap time simulation Investigation of tyre friction with simulation Yaw-moment diagram simulation and analysis
Powertrain Optimization
- On-track optimization of the electric powertrain
- Investigating performance-enhancing opportunities in drivetrain preparation and operation
- Measurement and analysis of electric drivetrain parameters
Vehicle testing tasks
- Planning, execution, and evaluation of subsystem tests
- Assisting with the creation of test plans
- Writing the shakedown test plan and participating in its execution
- Wind tunnel testing: creating test matrices, participating in test execution, and evaluating the results
- Tyre testing: specification and evaluation
- Brake dyno testing: defining test specifications
- Brake system analysis and optimization : enhancing vehicle balance during braking and corner entry through proper brake migration; testing different disc and brake pad compounds
